Voice Disorders

Program Description

The Voice and Speech Disorders program offers diagnosis and treatment for all types of voice and speech disorders by our staff specializing in these areas. The source of voice conditions such as hoarseness can be determined using the most up-to-date diagnostic equipment including a fiberoptic scope (a very small, lighted flexible tube). Whether the cause is something as common as laryngitis or something as serious as cancer, our staff can properly diagnose and treat these conditions. We also treat speech/language disorders in both adults and children, including disorders as a result of childhood developmental delays, stroke, and traumatic brain injury.

Services

  • Cognitive evaluation and treatment in adults
  • Fiberoptic scope examination
  • Pediatric craniofacial cases
  • Speech/language evaluation and treatment in adults and children
  • Stroboscopy (slow motion freeze frame photos of the vocal cords)

Our program offers the only laryngologist (voice specialist) in the state. We have a staff of 13 speech-language pathologists, trained at the master’s degree level, who offer rehabilitation and therapy services for a variety of conditions. Our team works closely together to ensure that a comprehensive, individualized treatment plan is developed and implemented for maximum patient improvement.
