Batson Children's Hospital offers one of the few fetal medicine programs in the Southeast. The multidisciplinary team at the University Center for Fetal Medicine ensures that unborn or newly born babies receive the highly advanced care they require, while mothers receive the clinical expertise and support they need.
Whether a baby's condition requires minimal intervention or complex fetal surgery, our specialists offer family-oriented and highly customized care based on each patient's circumstances. The care team includes members with nationally recognized expertise in fetal/pediatric surgery, maternal-fetal medicine, fetal radiology, fetal cardiology, neonatology and genetics.
In one day and under one roof, mothers and their unborn babies undergo fetal imaging studies, including high-resolution ultrasound, ultra-fast fetal MRI and fetal echocardiography. Families also meet with a genetic counselor and social worker who offer supplemental medical guidance, answer questions and provide a wide range of support services.
