Robotic-Assisted Surgery

Gyn_Robotic Assisted Surgery

University Women’s Care, a part of University of Mississippi Health Care, offers our female patients the next generation of surgical techniques with the use of robot-assisted surgery. This minimally invasive surgery offers:

  • Quicker recovery time.
  • Decreased pain at the time of surgery.
  • Shorter hospital stay (if necessary).
  • Less scarring.
  • Minimal blood loss.
  • Faster return to normal activities.

Using the da Vinci® robotic surgical system, our specially trained surgeons have increased dexterity and sharpened precision for improved surgical performance. With a high-powered camera, surgeons maneuver the arms of the robot while viewing a magnified, high-resolution, 3-D image. Most incisions are tiny, measuring only 1 to 2 centimeters compared to open surgery incisions that required multiple stitches and distinctive scarring.

Our surgeons use the da Vinci system for procedures including, but not limited to:

  • Hysterectomy (benign or cancer).
  • Radical hysterectomy.
  • Myomectomy (removal of fibroids).
  • Lymph node dissections.
