The expertise of University of Mississippi Health Care gynecologic oncologists is invaluable when a woman hears that cancer has been detected or suspected in her reproductive system. Advanced skills, leading-edge technology and the latest in research developments are part of the comprehensive treatment mapped out for precancerous conditions, advanced pelvic surgery, chemotherapy and overall care for gynecologic cancers, and clinical guidelines from the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and other sources are used to establish “best outcome” protocols.
The University Women's Care and University Cancer Care teams include several of the region’s few gynecologists board certified in gynecologic oncology with rigorous training in cancer-related surgeries, chemotherapy and placement of intra-operative devices for radiotherapy. This extensive specialty background allows UMHC to provide comprehensive care to women diagnosed with pre-invasive or invasive gynecologic malignancies, including ovarian, endometrial, cervical, vulvar, vaginal, fallopian tube and trophoblastic cancers.
That continuum of care extends from start to finish, including the specialist’s initial exam, personal administration of cancer therapies and use of the latest techniques in the operating room.
