Infectious Diseases

University of Mississippi Health Care's infectious diseases program provides care for adults with suspected or known infectious diseases, including, but not limited to, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases and diseases caused by bacteria or viruses. Proper treatment is essential to prevent complications for those infected and to reduce the further spread of these diseases.

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are a major public health challenge, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. About 19 million new STD infections reported each year. Chlamydia and gonorrhea account for more than 1.5 million cases, making them the two most commonly reported infectious diseases in the United States.
