Behavioral Health

Behavioral health is defined as how a person thinks, feels and acts when faced with life’s situations. It is how people see themselves, their lives and the other people in their lives. It's how they evaluate their challenges and problems and explore choices.

University of Mississippi Health Care offers comprehensive behavioral health services (psychiatry and psychology) for adults requiring outpatient and inpatient psychiatric care. From extensive evaluation and diagnostic services to innovative neuroscience treatments, UMHC provides a wide array of coordinated care for patients suffering psychiatric disorders.

A person who has a mental health problem can often be treated successfully with a combination of psychotherapy and medication, if appropriate, says the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
